I’ve just been to the supermarket and witnessed a marvel: Start cereal is back on the shelves! What with Jacko coming back and the IRA popping their heads above the parapet it’s like the 1980s all over again.

I don’t know if the decision to bring back Start was prompted by the success of Wispa, but I hope it’s a trend that will continue. I’ve noted also that Coco Pops Mega Mucnhers are on the shelves, a re-hashing of an old favourtie – Chocos (which I seem to recall, came in a green box with a bear on the front…) Here’s hoping Ricicles put marshmallows back in their boxes, and the return of Chocolate corn flakes, a shortlived, but much missed treat.

And yes, you’re right… I would choose British breakfast cereals of the late Twentieth Century as my Mastermind specialist subject.
