Why doesn’t the law limit the production of consumer vehicles to the national speed limit. I don’t know how much it costs the tax payer to fund policing, speed cameras, pencil pushers to send out speeding fine reminders and so on, but I bet it’s enough to fund say, a better health service, or provide higher calibre education in at least some sectors.

It might also stop idiots driving at high speed and killing people. Which is somewhat more than a positive halo effect.
