Improvements

Sunday 13 December 2009

Last night, I went to see Kim Noble Will Die at The Soho Theatre, London. It was, as you can read in numerous places, a different approach to comedy. Not that I want to talk about that. I was more taken by Kim’s attempt to improve the world, in whatever way he could. His way wasn’t always conventional (wanking onto a Des Lynam autobiograpy being a particular highlight), but at least he tried. Which is more than can be said for most.

I’ve become irritated recently, by the lack of goodness in this dear green world. Purposeless niceties are hardly abundant, and people don’t even seem driven to find joy. Not enough of them anyway. Even comedy, has filtered down to <blubs> James Corden and the IT Crowd</blubs>. What to do?

I’ve resolved to one thing for now. I’m going to try and inspire people to be more interesting. I think it’s a start. People like interesting people, and being interesting is good. Making yourself interesting is also, usually enjoyable. As long as you do it smiling. How it will all pan out, I don’t know, but come 2010, I’ve resolved to do something of interest every day. Watch this space.
